Union Ministry of Textiles has ramped up preparations for the Minimum Support Price operations for the upcoming 2025-26 Kharif cotton season. Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, led a comprehensive review of Minimum Support Price (MSP) preparedness for the Kharif Cotton Season 2025-26.
In a statement, the Ministry said it is steering the national strategy to ensure hassle-free procurement, timely payments, and digital inclusion. The statement added that, during the meeting, clear guidelines were laid down, and states were urged to ensure complete alignment with MSP operational norms.
The Ministry noted that a record 550 cotton procurement centres have been operationalised across 11 states, ensuring greater accessibility for farmers and improved logistical efficiency during peak arrivals.
States have also been advised to carry out extensive awareness campaigns to maximise farmer registration and participation through the Kapas-Kisaan App, which empowers farmers with digital registration and real-time payments
Local monitoring committees have been constituted at each centre for close oversight.
The Cotton Corporation of India Limited has also introduced dedicated WhatsApp helplines to swiftly resolve farmer concerns.
