The UAE has ordered an investigation into the incident involving flydubai flight FZ1073, which was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv before being diverted and landing safely in Saudi Arabia’s Tabuk. The probe will establish the circumstances of the incident, including whether it was linked to terrorist activity or involved prior planning.
The investigation follows flydubai’s confirmation of an altercation in the cockpit, after which crew members intervened and secured the aircraft.
Meanwhile, India’s UAE Ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal and Consul General Dr E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy met Captain Smit Machchhar’s family and assured them of support after his brave actions helped subdue the attacker.
Flydubai has also announced the suspension of flights to and from Israel while investigations into the incident continue.
