Indian Captain Smit Machchhar’s presence of mind saved 174 lives onboard the Dubia-Tel Aviv flydubai flight, after a knife attack. Captain Machchhar has been working with flydubai for the last 4 years.
He earlier worked with SpiceJet for 10 years, a low-cost Indian airline. He joined SpiceJet in 2011 and had served in several roles, including as a line training Captain and a senior commander. In June 2022, he quit SpiceJet and joined flydubai as a direct entry Captain. He has more than 13 years of commercial flying experience on the Boeing 737 fleet. The Indian pilot has over 9,750 flying hours. He completed his Bachelors degree from Mumbai’s Welingkar Institute of Management.
