Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the Centenary Celebrations of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on October 1.
The landmark event marks 100 years of the Union Public Service Commission, which was established on October 1, 1926, and later became a constitutional body under the Constitution of India. This event marked the conclusion of year-long celebrations that began on October 1 last year to commemorate the completion of 100 years since the UPSC’s establishment in 1926.
In his address Prime Minister Modi said that the officers selected today by the UPSC will lay the foundation of Viksit Bharat. Nation First and Citizen First approaches will decide the selection framework of these individuals. The Prime Minister also said that changing public expectations should be reflected in UPSC selections.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the challenges that Artificial Intelligence (AI) brings to the service sector. He stated that the selection process must now prioritize the ability to handle complex problems and possess foresight.
