India’s net direct tax collection has crossed ₹8.11 lakh crore in the current financial year, registering a growth of 23.09% compared to ₹6.59 lakh crore during the same period last year.
According to Income Tax Department data, gross direct tax collection stood at ₹9.55 lakh crore as of August 10, 2026, marking a 19.75% increase from ₹7.97 lakh crore recorded a year ago. The strong growth in direct tax revenue reflects a positive trend in government finances during FY 2026-27.
