US President Donald Trump on Monday defended a diesel oil deal he made with Russia, despite bipartisan concerns that it may violate US sanctions law over the conflcit in Ukraine.
Trump has said the deal to lift sanctions on Russian oil exports would help bring down high fuel prices.
The Trump administration temporarily eased sanctions on Russian fuel exports, after Moscow reportedly agreed to supply diesel to global markets.
While, Bipartisan senators urged Trump to reverse the deal, warning that Russian energy imports could weaken sanctions and undermine US pressure on Moscow over the Ukraine conflcit.
Trump rejected criticism from members of his own party, saying restrictions on Russian oil could have serious consequences for global markets.
He also blamed Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries for rising fuel prices.
