India has secured the deportation of alleged narco-trafficking kingpin Navpreet Singh from Türkiye. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called it a historic milestone.
Navpreet Singh, who allegedly obtained Turkish citizenship under the identity of Navab Virk, was accused of smuggling heroin and methamphetamine from Afghanistan to India. Indian agencies tracked him down, established his true identity and secured his deportation. He has now been brought back to India and taken into custody in connection with drug trafficking and other criminal cases.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated the agencies involved and said the government remains committed to dismantling narco-cartels by December 2029.
