To ensure passenger convenience, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw reviewed the status of special trains running during the festive season from the War Room at Rail Bhavan in New Delhi. He yesterday interacted with officials and took stock of the railway’s preparations ahead of Chhath Puja. The War Room has been set up to monitor and manage the festival rush at railway stations.
Mr Vaishnaw said the arrangements include three levels of war rooms across the country, one at the Division level, one at the Zonal level and one at the Railway Board level. He said, at the Railway Board, both Division and Zonal fleets coordinate operations. The Minister said, additionally, a mini control room has been established at every major station. He said, this system enables coordinated management of all stations.
In addition to the regular train services, 1500 special trains will be run during the next three days with an average of 300 specials per day. Over a duration of 61 days, from the 1st of this month to the 30th of next month, more than 12 thousand special trains are being operated across the country.
