Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that a proposal to improve road infrastructure between Reiek and Lengpui will move forward if BJP candidate wins the upcoming Dampa by-election. Speaking at a public rally in Reiek, Pu Rijiju emphasised that although Mizoram currently has only two BJP MLAs, the NDA government does not discriminate between states based on party lines. He added that if the BJP forms the government in the next state assembly elections, Mizoram could become a “poster state for development” in the country. During his visit, the Union Minister also mentioned that the fulfillment of various requests and proposals he received from the people of Mizoram would depend on the success of the BJP candidate in Dampa. He assured that if voters elect the BJP’s nominee, Pu Lalhmingthanga Sailo, the constituency would receive special attention and priority from the central government in all areas of development. Mizoram BJP President Dr. K. Beichhua, who also addressed the gathering, expressed sorrow over the untimely passing of MLA Pu Lalrintluanga Sailo, whose death prompted the by-election. He said the BJP was ready to carry forward his work and urged the residents of Dampa to support Lalhmingthanga Sailo, describing him as an “important bridge between the Central Government and the Dampa constituency.” Meanwhile, Palak MLA Pu K. Hrahmo voiced his hope that the people of Dampa would soon enjoy the same level of connectivity with Delhi as residents of Siaha. He further pledged to personally ensure the ₹350 crore fund earmarked by the Central Government for Mamit District’s development would be effectively utilized — provided the BJP candidate wins the by-election.
