Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said H-1B visa curbs could benefit India by boosting remote tech work and accelerating the growth of global capability centres in domestic cities.
During a fireside chat at the Startup Awards in New Delhi on Friday, Minister Piyush Goyal discussed the Trump administration’s H-1B visa crackdown and its potential implications for India.
His remarks came a day after the US administration suspended new and pending applications under the Permanent Labour Certification programme involving major technology companies.
Piyush Goyal said that not getting more H-1B visas is good for the Indian economy, arguing that more technology work is moving to India as companies increasingly rely on local talent and global capability centres.
