In Cricket, India produced a brilliant all-round performance to thrash Bangladesh by 40 runs in the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai last night. India’s victory secured their place in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 final, with the second semi-final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan determining their opponents.
Chasing a target of 150 runs, Bangladesh struggled to build momentum as India’s bowlers kept the pressure on and made 109 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated twenty overs. Shorna Akter, unbeaten 22, was the top scorer for Bangladesh. For India, Deepti Sharma scalped three wickets, Nandani Sharma took two wickets, while Shree Charani and Prema Rawat claimed a wicket each.
Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field. Put in to bat, India posted 149/6 in 20 overs, with opener Shafali Verma anchoring the innings with a fluent 64 off 40 balls. She was declared Player of the Match. The victory sets up a mouth-watering final for Team India.
In the second semi-final today, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in Dubai. The match will start at 8 PM Indian Standard Time. The winner of that contest will meet India in the final on Sunday. With strong all-round contributions and a dominant bowling display, India have underlined their credentials as favourites to lift the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 title.
