External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Saturday met his counterparts from the G4 countries, including Germany, Japan, Brazil, and India.
Held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2026 in Germany for the first time, the leaders discussed “reformed multilateralism.”
Last year, when the four leaders met in New York, the G4 Ministers concurred on close cooperation toward realizing Security Council reform, including the development of a consolidated model at the earliest. Furthermore, the G4 Ministers reaffirmed their mutual support for each other’s candidacies as new permanent members of a reformed United Nations Security Council.
Earlier, Minister S. Jaishankar also engaged with G7 Foreign Ministers.
He reiterated India’s strong support for the U.N. agenda, emphasising the need for meaningful reform of the U.N. Security Council.
He highlighted India’s role in safeguarding sea-lines of communication, acting as a first responder in crises, strengthening port security, and contributing to resilient submarine cable infrastructure.
