Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth faces likely impeachment accusations when Congress returns after the midterm elections and others, including President Donald Trump, could be investigated for alleged misconduct as Democrats return to power.
Besides Trump and Hegseth, lawmakers have already filed impeachment resolutions against Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Education Secretary Linda McMahon.
None of the resolutions gained traction while Republicans led the House, but they signal what Democrats could investigate when they take control of the House and Senate in January.
US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that if the Democrats were to launch an effort to impeach him when they take control of Congress next year, it would “destroy” their party.
“I think it would destroy…I think it would destroy the Democrat Party if they did that. Because impeachment for no reason. What? For having a successful country. Our country is more successful now than at any time in its history. Watch the beam go up,” US President Donald Trump.
