The city of Pune is all set to witness a major infrastructure push as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of Pune Metro projects worth around ₹21,800 crore on November 3 through video conferencing.
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate Pune Metro Line 3, also known as the Pink Line, built at a cost of over ₹8,300 crore. The project represents an important step towards strengthening Pune’s urban mobility infrastructure through technological innovation and modern transportation solutions.
The inauguration of the New Metro line 3 is expected to strengthen public transport and provide commuters with a faster and more convenient travel option.
Dr. Abhijeet Choudhary, IAS, Commissioner PMRDA said, “This particular metro is almost 23 kms long elevated corridor. It has a total 23 stations, of which 17 stations would be inaugurated. One of the specialities of this metro is that that entire line would be operated by trained women metro train operators. The line is also environment friendly, almost 30% of the electricity consumption is coming from the solar powers.”
The introduction and evolution of the Pune Metro network under the Modi government has transitioned the project from a decade-long stagnation into an expanding urban transit system, a much needed relief for Punekars.
One of the locals says that by bringing metro to Pune city, commuting will be easy and people can actually travel from one destination to another in a less and time-consuming way.
The IT Corridor Integration, Pune Metro Line 3 links the central hub of Shivajinagar to the massive IT enterprise zone in Maan Hinjawadi.
Along with the metro inauguration, the Prime Minister will also participate in the groundbreaking ceremony and lay the foundation stone for upcoming development projects, aimed at strengthening the city’s infrastructure and giving fresh momentum to its growth.
