According to the final results from Israel’s general election released earlier on October 30, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s camp, finished ahead of the opposition but remained well short of a parliamentary majority.

With nearly 99% of votes counted, Netanyahu’s coalition of right-wing and far-right parties won 53 of the Knesset’s 120 seats, with his Likud party remaining the largest single faction with 27 seats, while the opposition bloc, led by centrist Gadi Eisenkot secured 48 seats. Though both sides fall short of the 61 seats needed for a majority in parliament.

The results from the Central Elections Committee also showed Arab parties, ‘the Raam and the ‘Joint List’ securing 19 seats, positioning themselves as possible kingmakers.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister alleged on October 29 that Arab parties’ record gains in an election this week were driven in part by voter fraud, a charge rejected by Arab leaders who accused the premier of incitement.

Israeli officials said that the authorities were probing fraud allegations, though the election’s integrity was not systematically compromised.

Following the voter fraud allegations, Israeli left-wing activists protested on October 29 outside the house of opposition leader calling for a Jewish-Arab coalition.
