Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is highlighting US President Donald Trump’s endorsement ahead of Israel’s parliamentary elections, as he seeks another term in office.
In a televised address late Sunday, Netanyahu described the relationship with Trump as unprecedentedly friendly and said Israel might not see another US president as supportive.
Netanyahu also cited Trump’s appeal to Israeli voters to back him in the election.
Earlier on Sunday, Trump endorsed Netanyahu in a social media post, urging Israelis to vote for him and saying the two leaders needed to “finish the job that we started”.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions over Iran and renewed attention to the close political and strategic ties between Netanyahu and Trump.
