Lok Sabha Speaker and Chairperson of the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum Om Birla today said that BRICS has evolved into an influential anchor of Global South and a driving force for multilateral architecture. In an article for a daily newspaper, Mr Birla said that the growing engagement among the BRICS countries has also strengthened its parliamentary dimension through the BRICS Parliamentary Forum. The Lok Sabha Speaker said that the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum being hosted by India in New Delhi seeks to strengthen parliamentary dialogue, cooperation and collective action among BRICS member and partner countries. He added that through four dedicated plenary sessions, this Forum will examine how parliaments can contribute to translate the consensus of the BRICS Summit 2026 into domestic policies and programmers. Mr Birla further said that the BRICS parliaments are moral frameworks for governance that guide the democratic ethos of the people. He also emphasized that the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum is an opportunity to assert that global governance must belong to every citizen of the world.
