Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is concluding her six-day official visit to the U.S. today.
On the final day of the visit, she is visiting New York, where she participated in a high-level Business Roundtable with investors. The Minister asserted that, despite global disruptions and against all odds, India continues to be the fastest-growing major economy in the world, recording a remarkable growth of 7.8% in Q1 of FY 2026-27. She further stressed that, with its strong reform orientation under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, India has also provided greater regulatory certainty through a range of reforms, including the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code.
FM Sitharaman said that the focus is on the creation of capital assets and providing sustained support to industry in order to create a more enabling business environment for banks and industry to thrive, grow, and emerge stronger. The Finance Minister also spoke of the investment climate in India, which has improved significantly, as part of the larger national endeavour towards achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
