US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday afternoon and called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at his residence. The Ambassador is also expected to meet Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha before leaving for Ladakh.
Earlier, Omar Abdullah said it was after a long time that a US Ambassador was visiting Kashmir. He said they would discuss Jammu and Kashmir and the situation in the region.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti urged Ambassador Gor to review and withdraw the US travel advisory on Kashmir.
In a post on X, she said the advisory was hurting tourism and affecting thousands of families dependent on it.
She said lifting the advisory would boost international tourism and send a positive message about Kashmir.
