Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor during his visit to Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister led a roadshow in Saharanpur, where he received a warm welcome from enthusiastic crowds.
Following the roadshow, he reviewed the wildlife corridor along the elevated stretch of the Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, designed to ensure safe movement of wildlife and minimise ecological disruption.
Later, he performed darshan and pooja at the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun. On his way to the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister was greeted by enthusiastic crowds and received by dignitaries including Gurmit Singh, Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Nitin Gadkari. Yogi Adityanath and Rekha Gupta attended the ceremony virtually.
The 213-km-long six-lane access-controlled corridor has been built at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore. It includes 10 interchanges, an advanced traffic management system, and dedicated wildlife protection features.
Nitin Gadkari said the project is more than an economic corridor and will fast-track Uttarakhand’s growth by boosting jobs, tourism and overall development across Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh.
Pushkar Singh Dhami said the project will benefit local residents, traders, industrial groups, farmers and citizens, while also giving a major boost to tourists and visitors.
