India’s Sarvesh Kushare and Ancy Sojan settled for a silver medal each in their respective men’s high jump and women’s long jump finals at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya City, Japan.
After leading for a good part of the competition, Sarvesh slipped to second position after he failed to clear 2.25m on his first attempt.
India’s Ancy Sojan led for a major part of the competition before settling for the silver medal in the women’s long jump competition.
Ancy recorded a best jump of 6.53m to finish behind Huang Yingying of China, who claimed gold.
Indian athlete Parul Chaudhary bagged a bronze medal in the women’s 3,000-metre steeplechase event. Chaudhary clocked a personal best to finish third on the podium.
Indian track and field athlete Tejaswin Shankar claimed the bronze medal in the men’s decathlon after winning the 1,500-metre race.
India’s Harita Bhadra clinched the bronze medal in the women’s 200-metre race.
With the latest wins, India’s tally has jumped to 37 medals, including 4 gold, 16 silver and 17 bronze medals.
