Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted via video conferencing with participants undertaking the ‘Seva Yatra’ (Service Journey) from Vadnagar to Varanasi as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Service Pledge Campaign). During the interaction, participants shared their experiences of the journey with the Prime Minister. The objective of the journey is to foster youth participation and connect people from diverse backgrounds with the cause of public service. The ‘Seva Yatra’ commenced on September 17 as part of the extensive ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, launched to mark the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public life.
Traversing various states, districts, tehsils and villages, participants are engaging in activities related to public service and public participation. These include cleanliness drives, interactions with local residents and beneficiaries, and service-oriented tasks at schools, hospitals and other community spaces. Several groups are currently undertaking the journey from Vadnagar to Varanasi on motorcycles. The journey aims to promote the spirit of service, dialogue, youth participation, social welfare and community engagement. Addressing the event, the Prime Minister said today’s young generation is both the architect of a developed India and a major beneficiary of it. He remarked that when the spirit of service is integrated into policies, it becomes a driving force. Highlighting various government schemes, the Prime Minister noted that they are defined by their reach to the person standing at the very last rung of the socio-economic ladder.
