External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has called for a deeper India-CELAC partnership, with greater cooperation in trade, investment, technology, artificial intelligence, innovation and human resources, while stressing the shared interest of India and Latin American and Caribbean countries in strengthening the voice of the Global South.
Addressing the India-CELAC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting during the UN High-Level Week in New York on Tuesday, Jaishankar said that India is trying to forge robust and balanced economic partnerships with the region through the proposed CEPA with Chile, an FTA with Peru, and the expansion of the PTA with MERCOSUR.
