Rescue operations have entered their sixth day after flash floods devastated the Nepal-Tibet border region, with the death toll reaching 788. Rescue efforts have continued across the affected districts, with 19,895 security personnel mobilised for search, rescue and relief operations. Electricity and communications are down in the impacted areas of Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading, while many areas remain inaccessible due to damage to bridges and roads.
Health workers have also warned that supplies are running low, with enough food remaining for a day or two and gas completely depleted. Meanwhile, at the Trishuli-3A hydroelectric facility, rescuers have managed to create a hole wide enough to enter and begin the search for survivors, but have so far received no response. A joint 90-member rescue team, including a special search and rescue team with trained dogs, is using heavy equipment and blasting to widen an opening into the buried structure. As many as 537 workers and employees remained unaccounted for at nine hydropower projects in the flood-hit Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts. The Trishuli-3A hydropower project tunnel is one of them.
