Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman invited global investors to invest in India in Chicago, USA. Addressing a high-level business roundtable with leading investors and business leaders in Chicago, USA, she highlighted the growing investment potential in India. The meeting’s main theme was “Manufacturing in India – for India and for the World.” The Finance Minister stated that strong domestic demand, investment-led growth, economic strength, skilled human resources, and rapidly developing digital and physical infrastructure are India’s key strengths. She urged global companies to view India not just as a large market, but as a long-term hub for production and operations. Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted India’s digital public infrastructure in the digital and AI sectors. She highlighted investment opportunities in Aadhaar, UPI, DigiLocker, ONDC, and India Stack, as well as AI, semiconductors, electronics, and the Global Capability Center. In the financial services sector, he described GIFT IFSC as a vital link between global capital and Indian opportunities. He noted that 1,250 entities were registered there by June 2026. He also highlighted investment opportunities in manufacturing, infrastructure, food processing, defense, and advanced technology. The Finance Minister called on global companies to “co-develop, co-produce, and build for the global market” with India.
