India has dispatched 10 tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) assistance and essential medicines to support Nepal’s response to the devastating floods. The mountainous country was ravaged by floods, with a massive deluge sweeping through Nepal’s northern Rasuwa district.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar shared the update on social media platform X . The Minister wrote, “Dispatched 10 tonnes of HADR assistance and essential medicines to support Nepal’s response to the devastating floods. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families and all those affected.
In face of this challenge, India stands with Nepal and its people. ” The death toll from the flash floods that struck the Nepal-Tibet border on Wednesday has risen to 95, with many tourists out of contact. In the still-unfolding disaster, videos showed dozens of people being swept away near the border, with authorities fearing a higher death toll and widespread destruction. In Nepal, homes, roads and bridges have been swept away, while rescue helicopters have been unable to land in the worst-hit areas of Rasuwa district.
