Iran has decided to shift its policy from defensive to “fully offensive” due to the deadlock in efforts to agree on a permanent end to its war with the United States.
A senior Iranian official said that “Iranian entities must be prepared to escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the wider region.” The official added that Tehran would conduct a “timely and precise” military attack to break the U.S. naval blockade if diplomacy failed.
U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States is not seeking an extension of the memorandum of understanding with Iran, which expired on Monday.
Trump said that Iran would not make the deal he thinks is needed to end the war with the U.S. and should surrender, as talks between the countries remained stalled.
