President Droupadi Murmu addressed the 12th National Handloom Day celebrations at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi today.
The President presented 22 handloom awards, including the National Handloom Awards and the Sant Kabir Awards, to honour outstanding master weavers for their exceptional craftsmanship. The ceremony also featured the official launch of new commemorative stamps dedicated to India’s handloom traditions.
Addressing the gathering, the President said India’s handloom tradition reflects the country’s cultural diversity, craftsmanship and self-reliance. The President praised the contribution of handloom weavers in preserving traditional art forms and strengthening the rural economy and called upon people to promote and use handloom products.
