Government has strengthened the legal framework to curb AI-generated deepfakes, with a sharper focus on increasing the accountability of social media and digital platforms.
Stricter measures have also been put in place to ensure the swift removal of illegal AI-generated content and strengthen the grievance redressal system for faster resolution of complaints.
To boost deepfake detection, 13 responsible AI projects have been approved. The government also highlighted its focus on promoting the safe and responsible use of AI, while implementing a multi-layered strategy to tackle deepfakes and cybercrime.
As part of its cybersecurity awareness campaign, 6,650 workshops have been conducted across the country, benefiting more than 1.137 million people.
