A magistrate’s court in Mumbai has granted a two-day transit remand of NEET paper leak accused Shubham Khairnar to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Crime Branch Unit 2 of Nashik Police had detained Khairnar yesterday following a request from Rajasthan Police. He was produced before a magistrate’s court, where the CBI sought his transit remand so that he could be taken to Delhi for further investigation. The probe agency submitted to the court that the involvement of other persons from other states cannot be ruled out at present and, hence, the custodial interrogation of Khairnar was required. The court agreed and sent Khairnar to two days’ transit remand.

In another development, Pune Police have detained a woman in connection with NEET paper leak case. City Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said, the woman was detained from Bibwewadi area and was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after initial questioning.

In Ahilyanagar district, CBI has detained a man named Dhananjay Lokhande from Rahuri tehsil . He was taken to the office of Ahilyanagar’s Superintendent of Police, where he is being interrogated by CBI officials.

The NEET (UG) 2026 exam for admission to undergraduate courses in medical colleges, held on 3rd of this month, was cancelled yesterday amid allegations of paper leak. The government asked the CBI to carry out a comprehensive inquiry into the irregularities.
