The United States said on Sunday that it had seized an Iranian cargo ship that allegedly attempted to breach its naval blockade, prompting Iran to warn of retaliation.
US Central Command released footage showing a naval vessel intercepting a cargo ship, with visuals indicating a gun being fired in the direction of the vessel. President Donald Trump, in a post on his Truth Social platform, said that the Touska was seized by the US Navy after it failed to respond to warnings to stop.
Earlier on Friday, President Trump had said that the U.S. naval blockade would “remain in full force,” adding that it would not be lifted until a deal is reached with Iran. On Saturday, he also stated that Iran cannot “blackmail” the United States with the strait.
