With the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 scheduled to commence on July 1, preparations have begun across Jammu and Kashmir. In Ramban, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan chaired a comprehensive meeting to formulate a detailed plan for ensuring smooth and safe arrangements for the annual pilgrimage.
The Deputy Commissioner held detailed deliberations on ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply, robust healthcare services, sanitation management, adequate facilities at lodgement centres, installation of Public Address Systems (PAS) and proper arrangements at Langer sites. He directed all concerned departments to clearly define their roles and responsibilities for well-coordinated and foolproof arrangements.
Emphasising inter-departmental coordination, the DC stressed comprehensive planning at key locations including Yatra Camp Lamber (Banihal), SASB Yatri Niwas and Langer Site Chanderkote. He also reviewed security and traffic management plans to ensure the safety of pilgrims and smooth movement of vehicles along the National Highway.
The SDM Banihal was directed to convene a field-level meeting for timely execution of arrangements. SSP Ramban and SSP Traffic suggested additional measures, which the DC instructed departments to incorporate into their action plans.
Executive Engineers of JPDCL, Jal Shakti and PWD were tasked with ensuring uninterrupted utilities and infrastructure maintenance, while municipal authorities were directed to prepare a robust sanitation and solid waste management plan for all Yatra-related sites.
