Two male tourists were declared dead after being brought to hospitals in Srinagar in separate incidents on Wednesday, officials said.
In the first case, a tourist was taken in an unconscious condition from a hotel near Dal Lake to SMHS Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He was identified as Taranjit Singh, 41, son of Pushvandar Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
In a separate incident, another tourist staying at a hotel in the Hyderpora area was referred from JVC Bemina to SKIMS Soura after reportedly falling unconscious. Hospital officials said he was declared dead upon arrival.
The deceased was identified as Rajesh Ramchandar Mahindrakar, son of Ramchandar Mahindrakar, a resident of Maharashtra.
Officials said medico-legal formalities have been initiated in both cases to ascertain the cause of death. Police said further proceedings are underway as per protocol.
