European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Monday said on ‘X’ that a “successful India” makes the world more “stable, prosperous, and secure”, benefiting the entire world.
India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day, with President Droupadi Murmu presiding over the grand festivities at New Delhi’s Kartavya Path.
As per tradition, the national flag was unfurled by President Murmu, followed by the national anthem and a thunderous 21-gun salute using 105 mm light field guns, an indigenously developed artillery system.
Adding diplomatic significance to the celebrations, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Antonio Luís Santos da Costa attended the Republic Day celebrations as chief guests.
The two leaders are on a state visit to India from January 25 to 27 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
