Large parts of north, central and eastern India are likely to continue experiencing dense to very dense fog and cold day conditions over the coming days, according to the latest bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD said dense to very dense fog during night and early morning hours is very likely over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab till December 29. Similar conditions may prevail over Uttarakhand till December 28 and Madhya Pradesh till December 25.
The weather agency also warned of dense fog in isolated pockets of the Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh and Odisha till December 28, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Jharkhand may witness reduced visibility till December 25.
According to the MeT department, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are likely to be affected by foggy conditions till December 24, while northeast India may continue to experience fog till December 26.
The prevailing weather conditions are expected to maintain snow cover at higher altitudes, disrupt road connectivity at vulnerable mountain passes and reduce visibility in valleys, particularly during early morning and late evening hours. Minimum temperatures are also set to drop across several regions.
