Guwahati, Dec 16: The judicial process in the Zubeen death case will begin from today. All seven accused persons currently in judicial custody will be produced before the Kamrup (Metro) Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court virtually. The decision was taken to prevent any law and order situation. Copies of the chargesheet will be provided to the accused through the police.

It is learnt that the District Legal Services Authority has already appointed defence lawyers for the accused. Notably, the Assam Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) had filed the chargesheet in court on 12 December, and today marks the first hearing after its submission.

Of the seven accused, Shyamkanu Mahanta, Siddhartha Sharma, Sandipan Garg, Paresh Baishya and Nandeswar Bora are lodged in Baksa District Jail, while Shekhar Goswami and Amritaprabha Mahanta are lodged in Haflong Jail.
