Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today unveiled the official logo of the maiden Jammu Marathon, scheduled for March 29, 2026, at a ceremony held at Hari Niwas Palace. He urged citizens to adopt fitness as a way of life and expressed confidence that the event will become an iconic fixture on India’s running calendar.
The Chief Minister also launched the marathon’s official website, opened registrations, and unveiled the medal, merchandise and teaser video. The event was attended by Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma, MLA Yudhvir Sethi, Milind Soman, senior officers and stakeholders.
Addressing the gathering, Omar Abdullah highlighted the marathon’s unique route passing through Jammu’s cultural and heritage landmarks, including Raghunath Temple and Mubarak Mandi. He announced his participation in the Jammu Half Marathon and encouraged people to start preparing early.
To boost participation, the prize structure has been revised, with Half Marathon, 10K and 5K categories introduced to cater to all age groups and fitness levels.
Milind Soman termed the marathon a significant fitness initiative and praised the Chief Minister’s leadership, assuring his participation in the event as its promotional ambassador.
The Jammu Marathon aims to promote fitness, showcase Jammu’s heritage and strengthen its position as a major sporting and tourism destination.
