In the Kashmir Valley, foolproof security and elaborate arrangements have been put in place ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The 57-day pilgrimage will begin on 3rd July and conclude on 28th August. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has chaired multiple high-level review meetings to review preparedness. Senior police and civil administration officials have also visited Pahalgam and Baltal to assess ground arrangements.
A multi-tier security grid has been established by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and Central Armed Police Forces. Both base camps at Nunwan and Baltal have been fully sanitised. Over 670 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed along the Yatra routes. Mountain warfare teams and drones have been pressed into service, while CCTV surveillance has been strengthened for round-the-clock monitoring. Radio Frequency Identification tags have been issued to registered pilgrims to enable real-time tracking.
Authorities have also finalised arrangements for healthcare, sanitation, power and water supply, telecom connectivity, and disaster management to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine.
