French Open champion Mirra Andreeva also began her US Open campaign with a commanding 6-2, 6-2 victory over Janice Tjen, showcasing her formidable hard-court game and advancing confidently to the second round.
Andreeva is looking to improve her US Open fortunes, having reached the second week of every other Grand Slam but never progressed beyond the third round in New York.
