Security has been heightened across Kashmir following the killing of a police head constable in a terror attack in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag district on Wednesday, official sources said.
According to sources, security forces have been placed on high alert across the Valley, with surveillance intensified, checkpoints strengthened and search operations launched at multiple locations to prevent any further untoward incidents.
The Srinagar Sector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in a post on X, confirmed the heightened security measures following the terrorist attack.
“Security forces have intensified surveillance, strengthened checkpoints and launched search operations to maintain law and order. Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces,” the post stated.
Head Constable Ashiq Hussain was killed after terrorists allegedly shot him at point-blank range in the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag on Wednesday afternoon. Security agencies have launched an investigation and efforts are underway to trace those responsible for the attack.
