The India Meteorological Department said weather conditions were becoming increasingly favourable for the onset and further advance of the Southwest Monsoon over parts of southern India. According to the weather department, the Southwest Monsoon is likely to set in over Keralam around June 4, with widespread light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected across the state.
The IMD also said conditions were favourable for the monsoon’s further advance into parts of the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep Islands, Tamil Nadu and additional areas of the Bay of Bengal.
