President of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, will arrive at Gaya in Bihar this morning on a five-day visit to India. A high-level delegation, including several Cabinet Ministers, senior officials, and business leaders, will accompany him. This will be the first visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing to India in his current capacity.
At Gaya, the President of Myanmar will offer prayers at the Maha Bodhi temple and at Sujata Temple.
President U Min Aung Hlaing will arrive in New Delhi later in the day. He will meet External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar this evening. The Myanmar President is expected to participate in the Myanmar-India business forum tomorrow.
On Monday, President U Min Aung Hlaing will hold discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on further strengthening the historical and civilizational ties between the two countries.
Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said all issues that form part of the gamut of relations between Myanmar and India will come up for discussions during the meeting between the two leaders. As part of the visit, the Myanmar President will also travel to Mumbai on 2nd June for business and industry interactions and site visits.
Myanmar lies at the confluence of India’s Neighborhood First, Act East and MAHASAGAR policies. The official visit of President U Min Aung Hlaing to India is expected to further strengthen and deepen the multi-faceted relations between the two countries.
