In the Union Budget 2026-27, the Health sector received an allocation of 1.6 lakh crore rupees, registering nearly 10 per cent Rise from revised estimates of financial year 2025-26. The allocation includes over 4.8 thousand crore for the Department of Health Research, and represents a cumulative increase of over 194 per cent compared to the health budget of 2014-15.
The scheme component of the Ministry has been increased by over 6 crore, while the non-scheme component has risen by more than 2 thousand and 500 crore rupees, reflecting a balanced approach towards programme implementation and institutional strengthening.
Among key flagship programmes, the allocation for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana has been raised to 9 thousand 5 hundred crore, National Health Mission has been allocated over 39 thousand crore, and the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission received an allocation of more than 4 thousand crore rupees.
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said that the Union Budget 2026-27 reaffirms the Government’s commitment to building a resilient, inclusive and future-ready healthcare system, ensuring affordable and quality healthcare for all citizens.
