The Donald Trump administration in the United States has reportedly announced a halt to the employment-based green card process for employees associated with eight major technology and outsourcing companies. The list includes four Indian IT giants—Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro, and HCL—along with Cognizant, Capgemini, Microsoft, and Adobe.

The reported move could affect skilled foreign professionals seeking permanent residency in the United States through employment-based immigration programmes. Indian IT professionals, who form a significant part of the US technology workforce, may be among those impacted if the suspension applies to their pending or future green card applications.
