A sessions court in Bhiwandi has remanded the three accused arrested in Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case to police custody till July 6. Investigators suspect the involvement of an inter-state examination racket.

The three accused held in connection with the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case were remanded to police custody till July 6 by a Bhiwandi sessions court on Sunday. Bhiwandi Police told the court that the accused had allegedly travelled from Delhi to Bhiwandi to sell the leaked TET question paper for one crore fifty lakh rupees.

Investigators had sought ten days of police custody to trace the source of the leaked paper, examine financial transactions, find out whether the paper was sold elsewhere in Maharashtra, and identify other members of the racket. Police officials said the probe has revealed the involvement of an inter-state and national-level network.

They are now searching for two absconding accused while investigating the financial trail and the wider paper leak syndicate. The TET examination, scheduled to be held on Sunday, June 28, was postponed after Bhiwandi police foiled the paper leak a day earlier. Following the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team, or SIT, to investigate the case on Saturday.
