The Government has increased the Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED) on the export of diesel and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) in its latest fortnightly review.
With effect from today, the export duty on diesel has been raised to 14 rupees per litre from 13 rupees 5 paisa per litre, while the levy on ATF exports has been increased to 12 rupees 5 paisa per litre from 9 rupees 5 paisa per litre. The export duty on petrol remains unchanged at 1 rupee 5 paisa per litre. There is no change in the existing duty rates on petrol and diesel cleared for domestic consumption. The revised duties come amid continuing efforts by the Centre to ensure adequate domestic availability of petroleum products in view of the ongoing West Asia crisis.
The Government had introduced export levies on petroleum products from March 27 to discourage overseas shipments and prioritize supplies for the domestic market.
