IMD issues orange alert for thundersquall conditions in Delhi and several northern states

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for thundersquall conditions today over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall is expected during the day in places over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, North Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Parts of northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tripura, and Andhra Pradesh are also likely to experience rainfall today.

According to the Met Department, Arunachal Pradesh is expected to witness thunderstorms and lightning today. Meanwhile, hot and humid weather conditions will persist today in parts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
