The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heatwave conditions today at places over Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh. Heatwave conditions are also likely to prevail during the day over parts of Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana and Uttarakhand. According to the Met Department, Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to experience hot and humid weather conditions today. Warm night conditions are likely in parts of Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha during the next 2 days.
The Weather Agency also predicted heavy rainfall today over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
