In an exclusive conversation with DD, the Chairperson of the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India, Namit Joshi, highlighted the growth potential of India’s pharmaceutical exports following the Free Trade Agreement between India and New Zealand.
He said India currently exports medicines worth around 60 million US dollars to New Zealand, but the market potential is estimated at about 1.45 billion dollars. With the FTA in place, exports could rise significantly, with a target of around 1 billion dollars in the coming years.
He added that India’s expanding capabilities in biologics, biosimilars, complex generics and peptides would further strengthen its position as the “pharmacy of the world” and support export growth.
