Israel on Monday carried out fresh strikes on Iran, targeting its largest petrochemical complex, as tensions escalated over the Strait of Hormuz standoff.

The strikes hit the South Pars facility in Assaluyeh, a key hub accounting for a significant share of Iran’s petrochemical output, with reports of multiple explosions at the site.

A senior Revolutionary Guards commander was also killed in separate strikes, further intensifying the conflict. Iran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as locations in the Gulf, and warned of “much more devastating” action if threats against its infrastructure continue.

The escalating confrontation has heightened fears over global energy security, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining largely blocked, disrupting oil and gas supplies and pushing prices higher worldwide.
